NEW YORK—-(BUSINESS WIRE)–Blackstone (NYSE : BX), today announced that Dr. Jean Rogers, Founder and Former Chief Executive Officer of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), would be joining the firm as its Global Head of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in January 2022.
Dr. Rogers will be in charge of Blackstone’s corporate ESG group, leading strategy, integration and reporting, as well as engagement. To ensure a highly integrated and coordinated approach, she will work closely with the ESG and operational team heads as well as other functional groups within the firm. Blackstone has stakes in over 250 companies and 10,000 real property assets. This makes it an impact on nearly half a million people and many communities. This presents a huge opportunity to create value through ESG integration.

Dr. Rogers established and led the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board. This non-profit is dedicated to improving the efficiency of U.S. capital market by encouraging disclosure of material sustainability information that meets investor requirements and increases public trust in companies. Jean led the SASB’s development of sustainability accounting standards for 79 industries. The SASB also raised more than $25 million for ESG research. It also launched an education program on sustainability accounting. Jean also convened an Investor Advisory Group, which included leading asset owners and managers with over $33T in AUM. All of these groups advocate for market standards.
Dr. Rogers spent more than a decade working in sustainable development at Arup, a global engineering consulting firm, and Deloitte as a management consulting firm. She is a Loeb Fellow from Harvard University and holds a doctorate of environmental engineering.
