SUMMIT, N.J., November 8, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — ECP, a long-standing investor in the electricity, renewable and sustainable solution sector, announced today that it published its 2020 Environmental, Governance and Governance (ESG Report). The full report outlines ECP’s longstanding leadership position in ESG, its investment approach to decarbonization and the depth and breadth of this commitment across the entire ECP portfolio. ECP’s leadership team and cross-functional ESG Committee have cultivated a culture and investment portfolio that are focused on making North America’s electricity system cleaner, more reliable and more sustainable. ECP has avoided 21 million metric tons CO2 emissions in its power generation portfolio. This is equivalent to more than 5 million passenger cars or the electricity consumption for approximately 4.2 million households in the United States. ECP has developed and owned over 100 renewable facilities during its ownership. We recently increased our renewable energy generation by 14% between 2020 and 2019. ECP strongly believes that a functioning society and economy cannot exist without reliable, safe, cost-effective and environmentally sound energy and infrastructure. ESG and value creation are integral to our investment philosophy, as the largest private owner of power generation assets and renewable assets in the U.S.,” stated Doug Kimmelman (Founder and Senior Partner at ECP). ECP is investing in and partnering today with the businesses, communities, and individuals driving the shift towards electrifying and decarbonizing our economy, just as we have done with previous energy transitions. This report not only highlights the success of these efforts but also provides a roadmap for the future. ECP was founded in 2005 and has developed, owned, and operated 56 GW of power generation, storage, and renewable assets. This is enough power to power more than 35 million homes annually, or 25% of all residential homes in the U.S. ECP has also invested more than $13 Billion in energy transition businesses. ECP manages a large portfolio of assets and operations that touches communities in all 50 US states, three U.S. Territories and three Canadian provinces. ECP’s hands-on, operationally-minded ownership model means that it invests heavily in safety upgrades, maintenance programs, and environmental control systems. This improves the conditions for employees and communities in which its portfolio companies are located. “The scale of the change we are witnessing across the energy value chain, as whole communities are shifting their focus to electrified and decarbonized forms energy and a more circular economy, is amazing,” Mr. Kimmelman said. These sectors are where our foundation as an investor and experienced operator is strong, and our highly experienced team is well positioned to achieve these shared goals. We believe we have a significant role to play in facilitating a low-carbon economy. We are proud to continue driving a more sustainable future for the generations to come.
