ReutersAs it diversifies its business, Qualcomm can continue growing without Apple, according to analysts. Analysts used to believe that Qualcomm Inc’s fortunes were tied to Apple Inc’s iPhone. The iPhone uses a key modem chip made by the San Diego company to connect with mobile data networks. Qualcomm will present its plans Tuesday to investors. It will discuss how it plans to place its chips in everything, from self-driving cars to telecommunications equipment to virtual reality headsets. Analysts say that a potential loss of Apple, which is developing its own chips to replace Qualcomm, may not be a major concern for Qualcomm’s profits. Stacy Ragson, a Bernstein analyst, wrote that revenues are increasing to the point that the worry about Apple moving away is less.
