Report highlights Group’s ongoing performance and commitment to carbon-neutral data center operations by 2030 SINGAPORE, November 8, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, a leading provider of data centre services based in Singapore, has published its inaugural Environmental, Social and Governance Report. This report provides a comprehensive overview and analysis of the Group’s programmes and performance across three key areas. These include Decarbonisation, a safe, secure, inclusive workplace, and ethical and responsible operations. “As an enabler for digital infrastructure across our global operations we know that climate changes have only further underscored our need to optimise energy efficiency, source energy responsibly, and minimise our resource use,” Bruno Lopez, President and Group Chief executive Officer, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres. We reaffirm our commitments as a provider of reliable, resilient, and responsible digital infrastructure across all of our data centre platforms. This is even as we expand into new territories with our inaugural ESG Report. STT GDC participated in the first auction of a high-quality portfolio of carbon credits hosted in Singapore by Climate Impact Exchange (CIX). It was able to secure 25,000 tons of carbon credit, which will offset approximately 15% company’s Singapore emissions. Many businesses and consumers are becoming more concerned about climate change. It is crucial that the ecosystem works together to create positive change and collectively push Singapore to the forefront of sustainable development. Highlights of 2020 ESG Report: Decarbonisation: STT GDC pledged to make its data centre operations net-carbon-neutral by 2030 Energy Efficiency. STT GDC achieved 43% carbon-free energy usage in its operations over the past year. It has installed a rooftop solar photovoltaic system of 2,000m2 at its latest data center, STT Loyang. It has also signed additional renewable energy power purchase agreement (PPAs), to increase renewable energy penetration in India from 32% to 51% over the next years. The company has extended and renewed contracts in the UK to procure 100% renewable electricity. Green Buildings: All new buildings will be LEED Gold certified. STT GDC in Thailand built the first LEED Gold data center, while STT Loyang achieved both LEED Gold, and BCA/IMDA Green Mark Platinum certifications. Water Stewardship. STT GDC regularly implements water efficiency programs such as the non-chemical treatment and cooling tower at its STT Tai Seng Data Centre in Singapore. This allowed for an estimated 7,300m3 of environmentally friendly water, without polluting our environment. STT GDC also pioneered in India a unique reverse-osmosis plant (RO) that allowed 40 kilolitres of blowdown water per day. STT GDC promotes diversity and inclusion in the workplace by ensuring a safe, secure, diverse, inclusive, and inclusive environment. In 2020, 32% of the management team was comprised of women.
