CINCINNATI–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Dec 30, 2021–As part of its ongoing efforts to leverage data to combat the climate crisis, Benchmark Digital Partners LLC (Benchmark) today joined the Corporate Engagement Program of the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN), a part of the Global Commons Alliance. Benchmark, a leader in cloud-based ESG software solutions, believes companies can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect themselves against climate risks if they create a culture where they provide and act upon accurate, timely, complete, relevant, and auditorable climate-related disclosures. Benchmark, a Corporate Engagement Program Member, will help SBTN develop science-based targets for organizations to use to reduce their emissions to meet the Paris Agreement goals.
Benchmark has joined the Program to expand its primary mission of helping companies manage data-driven climate risk mitigation and decarbonization programs. Benchmark will also work with SBTN in order to protect and restore the world’s freshwaters and oceans. Benchmark will assist SBTN in developing science-based targets for corporate climate and nature action. Benchmark will also help SBTN road-test the methods and tools for implementing these targets to make sure they are practical and user-friendly.
R. Mukund, CEO of Benchmark and Founder, stated that climate-related financial disclosures and the data that enable them are crucial for adapting to and helping to reverse the climate crisis. Companies can improve their bottom line, protect themselves from climate impacts, and create a culture of sustainability with investment-grade ESG data. Joining the SBTN’s Corporate Engagement Program will help our subscribers align their organizations with the Paris Agreement objectives. Our Sustainability and ESG Disclosure Solutions will help companies set science-based targets. They will generate, analyze, verify, and report the investment-grade information needed to support effective sustainability management and ESG disclosures.
The SBTN is a global collaboration of non-profits and mission driven organizations. It provides guidance for cities as well as companies to set science-based targets to all of Earth’s systems. The SBTN builds on the momentum of Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), which promotes best practices in emissions reductions and net zero targets rooted in climate science. The ultimate goal for the SBTN is that the world’s largest cities and companies adopt science-based targets and take action for climate change. This will be done through the SBTi.
Mukund said, “Combating climate changes is a generational effort.” “The Benchmark team is proud that they are helping in this fight. Our commitment to science-based targets for Nature through our SBTN membership and adopting the SBTi methodology are consistent with a commitment that we have made since our inception.

About the Science Based Targets Network
Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), which allows companies to set science-based emission reduction targets, drives ambitious climate action in private sector.
The SBTi is a partnership of CDP, the United Nations Global Compact (UN Global Compact), World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature. The We Mean Business Coalition has committed to the SBTi call for action.
The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi),:
Promotes best practices in emissions reductions and net zero targets in accordance with climate science.
Companies who have set science-based targets that are in line with the latest climate science can get technical assistance and expert resource support.
This group of experts provides companies with an independent assessment and validation of their targets.
The SBTi is the leading partner in the Business Ambition for 1.5 Campaign campaign. This urgent call to action comes from a global coalition made up of UN agencies, business leaders, and industry leaders. It mobilizes companies to set net zero science-based targets that are consistent with a 1.5?C future.
The transition has already begun, and the pace of change is increasing. Nearly one thousand companies around the world are leading the transition towards a net zero economy by setting emission reduction targets based on climate science through SBTi.
